The Killam Fellowships Program
Open to Students at all Degree Granting Colleges and Universities in Canada and the U.S.A.
The Official Announcement of the 2008-2009 Killam Fellows is set for May 15th
The Killam Fellowships Program is a scholarship program which allows undergraduate students from accredited degree granting colleges and universities to participate in a bi-national residential exchange program between Canada and the United States of America. Scholarship recipients spend either one semester or a full academic year as an exchange student in the other country.
The program, which is currently in the final year of a five year pilot project, will be open to all qualified undergraduate students in both countries beginning in the fall of 2008. The program is designed to encourage exceptional undergraduate students in the two countries by providing a unique opportunity for academic exchange. Students can apply either to the direct exchange program, which is limited to the participating university partners, or to the open competition, allowing for participation from (and to) any accredited degree granting college or university in either country.
This program, which is administered by the Foundation for Educational Exchange between Canada and the United States of America, is supported by the American Killam Trusts, the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada, and the Foundation. It is an integral part of the Foundation's multidimensional strategy to foster mutual understanding between the citizens of Canada and the citizens of the United States.
The Foundation for Educational Exchange between Canada and the United States of America is a joint, bi-national, treaty-based organization created to encourage mutual understanding between Canada and the United States through academic and cultural exchange. The Foundation is supported by the Canadian Government, through the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada, and by the United States Government, through the Department of State. The Foundation is also supported by a diverse group of corporate sponsors, charitable trusts, and a select group of university partners.
