Dr. Louis Fortier Speaks at Fulbright Canada Board Meeting

Just over a year ago, in collaboration with the Government of Canada and the US Department of State, Fulbright Canada launched its highly successful Arctic Initiative. In recognition of this commitment to arctic issues and arctic studies, Fulbright Canada is pleased to announce that award winning scientist and arctic pioneer, Dr. Louis Fortier, professor at the Université Laval and Scientific Director of ArcticNet, will be speaking at the Fulbright Canada Board of Directors meeting in Montreal on May 5th.

ArcticNet is a Network of Centres of Excellence in Canada that brings together scientists and managers in the natural, human health and social sciences with their partners from Inuit organizations, northern communities, federal and provincial agencies and the private sector to study the impacts of climate change in the coastal Canadian Arctic. The Foundation for Educational Exchange is governed by a high level Board of Directors, which consists of twenty volunteer members who sit for a three year term (once renewable). Ten members are US citizens appointed by the US Ambassador to Canada and ten are Canadian citizens appointed by the Canadian Minister of Global Affairs. The members of the board include the Canadian Ambassador to the United States, the US Ambassador to Canada, one senior government official from each country, three university presidents from each country, and five private sector members from each country.
