     Title: Killam Day of Action

Killam Day of Action

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Killam Fellowships Program. This program has supported some 250 exceptional students, and will continue to identify and support the best and brightest and engage them in residential academic exchange. Fulbright Canada is reaching out to our Killam alumni to help us promote the Killam program and celebrate its success.

In our effort to communicate this milestone, we are asking alumni to pledge a day of community service.  The “Killam Day of Action” represents an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the important role that Killam Fellows play in bringing communities together.  Possible contributions to the Killam Day of Action may include a day volunteering at your local food bank, engaging in a local clean-up, or contributing to a Habitat for Humanity building project. If you are already volunteering with another organization or project, we would encourage you to dedicate one of your volunteer days to the Killam Day of Action. Participants in the Killam Day of Action will receive a free Killam t-shirt that they may wear on their day of action.

We strongly encourage everyone to document their day of action through videos, photos, and a narrative of some sort. We will then showcase a number of the photos and videos that you share with us at the 10th Anniversary gala dinner, which will be held in Ottawa on September 13th.  This event will bring together alumni and friends of the Killam Fellowships Program from across North America.

Community engagement is fundamental to both the Fulbright Program and the Killam Fellowships Program. It builds relationships that transcend national boundaries. We sincerely hope that many alumni will join us in this day of celebration by giving back to their community.
