* In addition to the C$5,000 per semester cash prize ($10,000 for a full academic year), and the C$500 allowance for health insurance costs, all Fellows are eligible to apply for a mobility grant in an amount not to exceed C$800. The idea of the Mobility Program is to allow students to undertake an educational field trip, providing them with the opportunity to gain a fuller understanding of the culture of the Canada. Ideally, the trip would have both a cultural and an academic element and would take the student to an area or region in Canada which is different than his/her host region. Please consult the 'news and events" section of this web site to learn about the mobility projects and travel plans of current Killam fellows and Killam alumni.
Each September, the Foundation for Educational Exchange between Canada and the United States of America hosts the incoming class of Killam Fellows for a fall Orientation in Ottawa, and a spring seminar in Washington, DC.
This year, Fulbright Canada interviewed American Killam Fellows, to find out why they chose to go to Canada with the Killam Fellowships Program.
